The use of chat group such as whatsapp and google chat are used to interconnect learners especially collaborating on group work and projects as well as ease of communication between teachers and learning. These technologies can be used to foster identity and belonging for each learner.

I agree with you. Even though some of the tools may have their limitations, the tutor can select what best suits the activity and goal for the interraction. Of importance, institutions must have policies to guide whta tools to be used for what kind of engagement.
