I currently function in the capacity of Vice Principal with the responsibility for Development/Distance Education.
This unit is basically responsible for ensuring that all centres are aligned in terms of delivery of the curriculum. The unit also takes responsibility in ensuring that all modules, assessments, mark schemes, flashdrives and other required resources are delivered and utilized effectively by students in far flung areas.
In order to help improve service delivery to the distant learner the unit can implement the following:
*Ensure that all material is printed, collated, and organized.
*All resources must be shipped at least a month before the semester begins.
*Students and lecturers must be give proactive orientation sessions on the courses, their requirements, timelines.
*TheirĀ must be continuous monitoring of students and tutors so as to ensure synchronization across centres.
This plan will entail both policy change and change in practice as more students are now being enrolled to the profession, they come from different demographics, each region is unique and no one size can fit all. Lastly, learning and education on the whole is evolving so one must be open to change.
